Happy New Year All!
Thanks to everyone who bought music, went to gigs, organised events, gave us the use of their beds, showers, washing machines etc etc over the past year.
On Thursday December 8th we played the Topic Folk Club in Bradford. It was our final gig for 2022 and they had to bring in extra seats, we were delighted.
I’m writing this sat in Tallulah our beautiful tourbus (VW T5 van) parked in Stirling Rugby Club's car park ahead of tonight’s gig at Stirling folk club. And the weird thing is it's November and it’s sunny (see the photo of the Wallace Monument below).
We are delighted to be a part of this wonderful production.
We've just returned home from a lovely few days at The Gate to Southwell Festival. The expected heatwave didn't hit until the Sunday which made for a pleasant but hot end to the weekend. Prior to this we'd been performing at the Whitby Moor & Coast Session and then got a late call to go up to Cleckheaton Festival as a couple of acts had unfortunately had to pull out due to Covid.
It's great to be back out on the road.....for a while at least.
We had a lovely run of gigs during February and we were very careful, testing regularly, wearing the masks etc and managed to get through them with no covid cancellations. And then in March just before we were due to play Northwich folk club and the Black Dyke Mill Heritage venue in Bradford, we both went down with it and had to cancel. Both of those gigs have now been rearranged and thankfully we are both fine and back out there.
We sincerely hope that you've all had a great Christmas, but let's be honest, "great" might be stretching it quite a bit, given the current state of affairs.
Last night we should have had our first full family get together in over two years. All of the kids and grandkids were going to be there, but four positive Covid tests in the camp put paid to that. However despite that everyone is okay - no serious effects due to the virus, so we can be thankful for that.
So far so good!!
"Dave Wilson's best songs are those rooted in truth and The Passing of the Storm is packed with them....Winter Wilson just get better and better." (Dai Jeffries, RnR Magazine)
"A lovely record" (Maverick Magazine)
"The quality of these new songs is unquestionable, and paired with their ever-developing maturity as musicians; they make for an unmissable album." (Johnny Whalley, Folk Radio UK)
Our mate Suzie has come up with a great idea. Our latest album The Passing of the Storm has a track on it called "What Would Johnny Cash Do Now" and it's proving to be a real ear worm. Sue suggested we get some tee shirts made with the title printed on them and we thought why not.
If you'd like one, please get your order in and we'll do our best to get them to you in time for Christmas.
